The Journal tells you what to do today. The Progress view tells you how you’re actually doing, not just whether you checked a box this morning, but whether the habit is truly sticking, week over week and month over month. Progress is split into two dedicated spaces, because building a habit and breaking one are genuinely different journeys with different things worth measuring: Good Habits and Bad Habits. This article walks through what you’ll find there and how to read the insights provided in each view.

Progress: Good Habits

Date Range & Habit Controls

Before diving into the data, you need to set your parameters. The filtering tools are located in the top right corner of the screen. This section allows you to:
  • Select standard milestones (like 7, 14, 28, or 60 days, up to 6 months) or define a completely custom start and end date.
  • Filter the specific habits, habits from a certain area, or habits from a specific Time of Day.
Whether you want to review your overall performance for the entire year or zoom in on a specific 30-day fitness challenge, these controls let you shape the data to fit your exact needs.

Daily Effort Overview

This is your entry point into Progress, built to answer one question: am I actually being consistent, or does it just feel that way? This section gives you a holistic view of the effort you are truly putting in through three key metrics: Consistency Heatmap, AVG Daily Score, and Performance Bar.Overview Good Habit I OS

Consistency Heatmap

Located at the very top of your dashboard, the heatmap provides a vibrant, visual representation of your endurance over time. This grid consists of small squares representing your days, with the number of cells directly matching the date range you selected in your filter. The color intensity of each cell reflects your daily completion rate: the higher your completion percentage for that day, the darker and more solid the color will be.

Average Daily Score

Directly below the heatmap, you will find core metrics that evaluate your overall effectiveness for the selected period, alongside a trend indicator comparing your current momentum to the past.
  • Average Daily Score: This represents your overall daily completion rate. The formula calculates the sum of your completion rates for each day, divided by the total number of days in your filter. (Example: If you have 3 daily habits today and complete 1, today’s completion rate is 33.3%).
  • Trend Indicator: This shows the comparison between your current score and the immediate previous period. (Example: If you are viewing the “Last 7 days,” it compares your current score to the 7 days prior to that).

Performance Bar

This breaks your days down into three clear states:
  • Nothing: number of days with 0 daily habits completed,
  • Partial: number of days with some habits completed, but not all,
  • Complete: number of days with 100% of daily habits finished.
This breakdown serves as a great reminder to be kind to yourself—even if you only have a few perfect days, seeing a large chunk of “partial” effort days proves that you are consistently showing up and contributing to your overall success.

Patterns

The Patterns section helps you identify when you are most productive and where you might be getting stuck. By understanding these trends, you can start working with your natural energy instead of fighting against it.This section is broken down into three powerful insights: Weekly Rhythm, Peak Focus Zones, and Missed Habits.

Weekly Rhythm

Weekly Rhythm Pattern I OSThis chart acts as a mini-report of your typical week by comparing your average completion rates from Monday through Sunday. The score for a specific day of the week is the average of all those specific days within your selected timeframe.e.g., If your date filter includes two Tuesdays—and you achieved a 50% completion rate on the first Tuesday, but 0% on the second—your overall Tuesday average shown on the chart will be 25%).By looking at the tallest and shortest bars, you can pinpoint your most productive days and the days where your momentum drops. This empowers you to plan smarter, scheduling demanding habits on high-energy days and giving yourself flexibility on low-energy days.

Peak Focus Zones

Peak Focus Zone Pattern I OSBased on your custom Times of Day (Morning, Afternoon, Evening), this chart averages your completion rates for each specific time block across the filtered period.e.g., If you have 3 habits scheduled for the Morning, and you complete 2/3 on day one and 1/3 on day two, your overall Morning completion rate will be 50%.This reveals your personal “golden hours.” By knowing exactly which block of the day yields your highest success rate, you can optimize your routine. Move your most difficult, high-priority habits to your peak focus zones, and save the low-performing hours for rest or simple tasks.

Missed Habits

Missed Habits Pattern I OSThis section with a donut chart tallies all the times you missed a daily habit within your filter, and calculates the percentage ratio between Skipped and Failed check-ins. Below this chart, the system explicitly lists your “Most Skipped” habit and your “Most Failed” habit.e.g., if you have total 10 missed check-ins, 6 skips and 4 fails, during the selected time range, the chart will display 60% Skipped and 40% Failed.Instead of feeling guilty about missed days, this tool turns your setbacks into actionable data:
  • If a specific habit earns the title of “Most Failed,” it is a clear signal that the routine needs adjustment, it might be too difficult right now or scheduled at the wrong time.
  • Meanwhile, your “Most Skipped” habit might prompt you to re-evaluate if that goal is still truly relevant to your current journey.

Areas

Areas I OSBuilding good habits is rarely just about one thing, it is usually a mix of health, work, personal growth, and relationships. The Areas section ensures that you are making balanced progress across the different categories of your life. This section features a carousel of horizontally scrollable cards for each of your Custom Areas. Inside each card, you get a bite-sized “Overall Effort” report specific only to that category:
  • Average Daily Score: the average completion rate per day on the habits with per-day goal included in the area, during the selected period.
  • A mini trend line: the line chart representing your overall performance on the habits with per-day goal included in the area, during the selected period.
  • A condensed heatmap: the heatmap visualizes your completion rate on the daily habits included in the area, durring the selected period.
By swiping through these cards, you can immediately spot if one aspect of your life is thriving while another is being neglected.

Goals

Goals Good Habit I OSThe Goals section is specifically designed for target-based habits, which have the goal per week, per month, or per year, giving you dedicated mini-reports to ensure you are pacing yourself correctly. This section displays a dedicated card for each habit that has a weekly, monthly, or yearly goal.
  • The Header*:* Shows the habit’s name and your specific target.
  • The Weekly/Monthly/Yearly Score : Represents your completion rate for the current week, month, or year.
  • The heatmap: Visualizes your effor for each standard week, month, or year, with mini progress bars
  • The Detail Breakdown*:*
    • Completion: Counts your Completed cycles (e.g., 7/15 weeks),
    • Total: Sum up your progress value logged within the date range chosen in the date filter.
    • Weekly/Monthly/Yearly Avg: Calculates the average value you achieve per standard week, month, or year included in the date range.
Big goals can feel intimidating, but these report cards break them down. The Daily Avg metric turns a daunting monthly goal into a small, manageable daily number, while the Year to Date total proves that your consistent efforts are compounding into massive achievements.

Habits

Habits Good Habit I OSThe Habits section is dedicated exclusively to your habits with goal set per day. It provides individualized mini-reports for the routines you aim to complete every single day, allowing you to zoom in on how each specific habit is performing. Each daily habit gets its own dedicated report card.
  1. The Header*:* Displays the habit’s name next to a flame icon showing your current active streak.
  2. Score & Trend*:* Your Daily Score for this specific habit, complete with a trend line.
  3. The Detail Breakdown*:* Shows your Completion ratio (e.g., 7/15 days), your Total cumulative value achieved, and your Daily Avg value.
  4. The Mini-Heatmap*:* A personalized heatmap isolating the daily effort for just this one habit.
These individual cards are the ultimate accountability tool. Having your current streak pinned to the top leverages the psychological power of momentum. Meanwhile, the mini-heatmap lets you diagnose specific problems: if a habit’s grid is spotty, you instantly know exactly which routine needs extra focus tomorrow.

Progress: Bad Habits

Date Range & Habit Controls

Your filtering tools are located in the top right corner of the screen. It allows you to adjust the time frame using standard milestones (7, 14, 28 days, etc.) or custom start and end dates. These filters allow you to isolate your data. If you are doing a “Sober October” or a 30-day digital detox, you can set the exact date parameters to see a focused report card for that specific challenge.

Daily Effort Overview

When you first open the “Bad Habits” tab, you are greeted with an overview of your effort over the selected time range. The layout might look similar to the “Good Habits” tab, but the goal here is the exact opposite.Overview Bad Habit I OS

The Block Calendar

Instead of trying to fill this calendar with dark colors like in the “Good Habits” view, your goal here is to keep it as blank as possible. The light gray blocks represent your clean days.If you log a slip-up for a bad habit, that day’s block will instantly be colored solid red. This visual gives you an instant reality check. A red block isn’t something to feel guilty about; it is a data point to help you recognize when your slip-ups usually happen.

The Core Indexes

Directly below the calendar is a breakdown of your consistency, neatly divided into four motivating metrics:
  1. Days Clean: The total number of days you successfully avoided your bad habits entirely, accompanied by your overall “clean rate” percentage.
  2. Slip Days: The total number of days you have progress logs, even when the total logged value is still under the limitation, including a note on exactly how many days ago your last slip occurred.
  3. Current Streak: Your ongoing, unbroken run of clean days leading up to today, marked with a flame icon.
  4. Max Streak: Your all-time historical record for consecutive clean days.

Patterns

Patterns Bad Habit I OSWhile building good habits relies on finding your peak productivity, breaking bad habits relies on identifying your peak vulnerability. The Patterns section helps you pinpoint exactly when you are most at risk of falling back into old traps with Slip Rhythm.Slip Rhythm acts as a weekly vulnerability report. It uses horizontal red bars to tally up your slips for each day of the week, showing you exactly how many times you gave in on a Monday versus a Sunday over your chosen time range.By mapping out exactly when your slips happen most often, this chart transforms your mistakes into actionable intelligence. It allows you to stop relying on sheer willpower and start proactively building defenses.Once you can clearly see your most vulnerable days, you can intentionally change your environment or schedule extra accountability exactly when you need it most.

Limit Targets

While the previous sections look at your overall effort, this section provides individualized report cards for each specific bad habit.Because Habitify allows you to set two different types of goals for negative routines—either practicing moderation or stopping completely—you will see two slightly different types of cards here depending on the habit.

Limit-Type Habits

Limit Habit Bad Habit I OSThe mini-report card for a habit with goal to limit includes:
  1. The Header: Shows the habit’s name alongside the limitation you set for it.
  2. Slips & The Limitation Chart: Highlights how many days you “slipped” (having at least 1 progress log). Next to this is a column chart plotting your actual logs against a red dotted limitation line. Any column that breaks through that red line represents a slip.
  3. The Detail Breakdown: Summarizes your tracking with three metrics:
    • Overage: The number of periods when you consumed or did beyond your allowed limit.
    • Average: Your actual average volume per period (daily, weekly, or monthly).
    • Peak: Your absolute highest amount logged during a single period.
Instead of demanding perfection, this complete picture shows you the reality of your gradual reduction. By seeing exactly how much you went over, paired with an overall dropping average, you are reminded that partial victories matter. It proves that you are steadily regaining control of your impulses, even if you occasionally cross the red line.

Quit-Type Habits

Quit Habit Bad Habit I OSFor habits where moderation isn’t an option and your absolute goal is to stop completely, this section gives you a clear, no-nonsense look at your resilience.
  1. The Header: Displays the habit’s name next to a flame icon highlighting your current active streak of clean days.
  2. Days Clean & The Chain: Prominently shows your total clean days (day with zero progress logs) for the period, alongside a visual progress chain. In the progress chain, your clean days remain clear, while any slip days instantly stand out as vertical red lines breaking the chain.
  3. The Detail Breakdown: Summarizes your effort by showing:
    • Slips: a number of days you give in the bad habit
    • Max Streak: all-time longest run of clean days
    • Success Rate: percentage of clean days over the total number of days counted in the selected time range.
By weighing your rare slips directly against a high success rate and your all-time best streaks, it constantly keeps you reminded that one bad day does not erase weeks of hard work. It keeps your eyes on the big picture, giving you the grace and motivation to immediately dust yourself off and start your next clean chain.
