Adding a Fitbit-synced habit
- iOS
- 🤖 Android
- 🖥️ Website & Desktop
- From Journal, tap the + button in the bottom right corner
- Choose either ‘Build Good Habit’ or ‘Break Bad Habit’.
- At the top of the creation screen, switch to then ‘Fitbit’ tab.
- Choose the data type you want to track from the list (e.g., “Steps”).
- In the next step, you will redirect to Fitbit site to log into your Fitbit account, and grant the access permission for Habitify to read the data from Fitbit.
- Once the permission is granted, you go back to Habitify,
- Configure the details of your habit as normal.
- Once everything is set, tap the ✓ button to save the newly created habit to your list.
How it works
- Fitbit data syncs to Habitify automatically. Once your logged value reaches the habit’s goal, Habitify marks it Completed for you — no manual check-in needed.
- You can still manually mark the habit as Skipped or Failed for the day if you want to note something Fitbit wouldn’t otherwise capture.
Limitations
- The Fitbit account has to match. The Fitbit account you authorize through the browser during setup must be the exact same one signed into your Fitbit mobile app. If the two accounts don’t match, your data won’t sync.
- Water intake has an extra requirement. If you’re tracking water intake, Fitbit requires you to also be logging Food in the Fitbit app, logging food is what actually triggers Fitbit to sync water data to connected apps like Habitify.
- Only one Fitbit account per Habitify account. You can only connect one Fitbit account at a time. If you try to connect a second Habitify account to the same Fitbit account, the first connection automatically breaks.
- Disconnecting is permanent for that habit. If you unlink a habit from Fitbit, the integration can’t be re-linked to that same habit afterward, you’ll need to create a new habit from scratch if you want to reconnect.
