A Task is a small, one-time to-do you can attach to a specific habit, separate from the habit’s main goal, but still tied to it. Think of it as a way to capture the little supporting actions that come up around a habit without cluttering the habit itself: a book to pick up before you start your “Read” habit, or gear to buy before your first gym session. Unlike the habit it belongs to, a Task doesn’t repeat. It’s created once, completed once, and then it’s done.

Task vs. Checklist

Both live inside a habit, but they solve different problems:
  • Task: a one-time to-do. Create it, complete it once, done.
  • Checklis: a repeatable set of steps that resets and applies every time the habit comes up (e.g., a fixed morning routine checklist inside your “Morning Routine” habit).
If what you need happens once, use a Task. If it repeats alongside the habit itself, use a Checklist.
