# Reminder

Setting a reminder is one of the most effective ways to stay consistent with a new habit. A well-timed nudge often makes the difference between "I'll do it later" and actually doing it.

Habitify supports three types of reminders, each built for a different kind of cue:

* **Time-based reminders** : fires at a specific time you set.
* **Location-based reminders**: fires based on your location, when you arrive at or leave a place.
* **Habit-stacking reminders**: fires based on another habit's status, so one action naturally cues the next.

Here's how each one works, and how to set it up.

## Time-based reminders

Time-based reminders let a notification fire at a specific time you set.

To add a time-based reminder to your habit:

1. In the detailed settings of your habit, tap to access **REMINDERS.**
2. Under *Time* section, tap **'+ Add Time Reminder'.**
3. Set the time using the wheel time picker
4. Swith the **'Custom Schedule'** toggle to ON, if you want to assign the reminder to the specific day(s) in the week.
Then choose the day(s).
5. Swith the toggle to enable one or all **the working modes** of the reminder on your device:
* ***Show Live Activity***: reminders will appear as a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island
* ***Show as Alarm***: reminder appears in full alarm-style alert, which you can dismiss or snooze like your waking-up alarms in every morning.
* **Having both mode OFF**, your reminder still appears as a general push notification.
6. Tap **the ✓ button** to save the reminder.
7. Tap back to return to the habit's detailed settings

## Location-based reminders

Instead of a fixed time, this reminder fires based on where you are, using the formula:

> *When I am leaving/entering \[chosen location], I will do \[habit]. Remind me of \[habit] when it's \[distance] from my location to \[chosen location].*

To set it up:

1. In the detailed settings of your habit, tap to access **REMINDERS**.
2. Under *Locations* section, tap '**+ Add Location Reminder**'
3. Tap on '**🔍︎ Search**' to find and select the address you want to base the reminder on.
Or, choose '**Current Location**' for quick.
4. Choose the event type: **Entering** or **Leaving**.
In the map, hold and drag to adjust the distance from that address at which the reminder should trigger.
5. Tap **Done** to save the reminder.
6. Tap back to save and return to the habit's detailed settings.

## Habit-stacking reminders

Habit Stacking is a behavioral technique that pairs a new habit with one you already do consistently. Instead of relying on a specific time to remember something, you use an action you're already completing as the trigger for the next one.

The formula:

> *Remind me of \[targeted habit] when \[base habit] is marked as \[Completed / Skipped / Failed].*

As soon as you log your base habit, Habitify immediately prompts the next one — creating a natural chain reaction through your routine. A few examples:

* **Morning Workflow**: Remind me of *Read 10 Pages* immediately when *Make Coffee* is marked as *Completed*.
* **Evening Routine**: Remind me of *Take a Walk* after 10 minutes when *Have Dinner* is marked as *Completed*.
* **Flexible Backup Plan**: Remind me of *Run 5 km* immediately when *Swim 1 Hour* is marked as *Skipped*.

To set it up:

1. In the habit's detailed settings screen, tap **REMINDERS**.
2. In the **Habit Stacking** section, tap '**+ Add Habit Stacking'**.
3. Under *Remind me to \[your habit] when*:
1. **choose the base habit**, the one you check in right before this one
2. **choose the status of the base habit** that should trigger the reminder.
4. Under *Send Notification*, choose:
1. **Immediately** to fire the reminder right away,
2. **After** then choose **\[amount of time]** to add a short delay before it sends.
5. Tap **Done** to save the new habit stacking reminders, and get back to the *Reminders* screen.
6. Tap back to return to the habit's settings screen.
