# Account

Your Habitify account is what keeps your habits, progress, and streaks safe, and synced across every device you use. This article covers the essentials to manage your Habitify account.

## Creating an account

When you first open Habitify, you'll be prompted to sign up. You can create an account using any of these methods:

* **Google Account (Gmail)**
* **Apple ID**
* **Email & Password**

If you'd rather skip signing in for now, you can also start as a **Guest**. A Guest account lets you use Habitify right away, but it's stored only locally on that one device. It won't sync anywhere, and you risk losing your data if something happens to your phone. Linking it to a real sign-in method (see below) fixes that.

## Connecting a Guest account with other logging methods

If you started as a Guest and want to secure your data, or use Habitify on more than one device, you'll need to link your account to a proper sign-in method:

1. Go to the **Settings** tab and tap your **Profile** at the top.
2. Under the **Sign-In Method** section, find the method you want to link - **Google Account**, or **Email & Password** - and tap **Link**.
3. Follow the authorization steps for that method.
4. Once linked, you'll see a confirmation that your account is successfully connected.

<Note>
  You can only link one sign-in method per type.
</Note>

<Note>
  The account you're linking (a specific Google account, Apple ID, or email) can't already be in use by another Habitify account.
</Note>

<Note>
  The Gmail or Apple ID that is already linked with your account cannot be changed later.
</Note>

## Changing account password

1. Go to [<u>https://app.habitify.me/signin</u>](https://app.habitify.me/signin).
2. Find '*Forget Password?'*, and click **Reset here**.
3. Enter your account email, Google, or Apple address that is linked with your email.
4. Click **Submit** button.
5. Check in your inbox or spam to get the reset link
6. Set a new password, and try to sign in your account again.

## Logging into devices and platforms

Habitify syncs your data automatically across your phone, tablet, desktop, and the web, as long as you're signed into the same account everywhere.

<Warning>
  **Before you sign in elsewhere:** make sure your account is linked to an online sign-in method (Google, Apple ID, or Email & Password). A Guest account is local-only and can't be used to sign in on a second device .
</Warning>

**To sign in on a new device:**

1. Download Habitify on your new phone, tablet, or computer.
2. Sign in using the **exact same sign-in method** you used originally.
3. Once signed in correctly, all your habits and progress sync automatically.

<Warning>
  **If your data doesn't appear**

  The most common cause is accidentally signing in with a *different* method than the one you originally used — which creates a second, empty account instead of opening your existing one.

  To check, verify your sign-in method and email in your profile section; if they match across devices, you're on the same account.

  If not, log out of the new, empty account (**Settings → Account → Log Out**) and sign back in using your original method.
</Warning>

## Deleting an account

Deleting your account is permanent, so it's worth reading the fine print before you do.

**Before you proceed:**

* **This can't be undone.** All your habits, progress, streaks, notes, and other data are permanently erased, this can't be recovered, by you or by Habitify's team.
* **Your subscription isn't automatically canceled.** Deleting your account does not cancel an active Premium subscription. If you have one, cancel it separately through the App Store or Google Play Store first, or you'll continue to be charged.

**How to delete your account:**

1. Go to the **Settings** tab and tap your **Profile** at the top.
2. Scroll to the bottom to find the **'Cautious Zone'** section.
3. Tap **Delete** under **'Delete Account.'**
4. A final confirmation screen appears, restating the permanent consequences. Follow the on-screen instructions and tap the final **Delete** button to confirm.

Once confirmed, all your data is permanently removed and you're logged out of the app.
