# App Behaviors

Beyond your habits themselves, Habitify has a set of app-wide settings that shape how the app behaves day to day: when it nudges you, how your week is laid out, and what you see and hear as you check in.

This article walks through each one, all found under **Settings**

<Tabs>

    ## **Journal**

    <img src="https://mintcdn.com/habitify/6KCHyANQ9LUPyX0J/images/AppBehaviour-Journal-iOS-1.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6KCHyANQ9LUPyX0J&q=85&s=8b69f707ab6af81d10643b7ea7265bdb" alt="App Behaviour Journal I OS 1" width="2210" height="1243" data-path="images/AppBehaviour-Journal-iOS-1.png" />

    You can give your Journal view a custom name of your own choosing, replacing the generic "Journal" label. Something personal like "Jane's Vision," a mantra, or whatever framing keeps you motivated every time you open it.

    This is purely a naming preference; it doesn't change how the Journal itself functions, just how it's labeled for you.

    ## First Day of the Week

    <img src="https://mintcdn.com/habitify/6KCHyANQ9LUPyX0J/images/AppBehaviour-FirstDay-iOS.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=6KCHyANQ9LUPyX0J&q=85&s=81762727c8a2e74ed4eadf0bffba7a55" alt="App Behaviour First Day I OS" width="2466" height="1387" data-path="images/AppBehaviour-FirstDay-iOS.png" />

    In Habitify, your week can start on either **Sunday** or **Monday.**

    To configure the first day of your standard week in the app:

    1. In *Habitify* app, go to **Settings.**
    2. Under *App Behavor*, tap on '**First Day of the Week'.**
    3. Choose between '**Sunday**' or '**Monday**'.
    4. Tap **the ❮ button** in the top left corner to save and turn back the menu.

    By selecting your preferred start day, you ensure that weekly habits reset and start anew according to your chosen weekly cycle. *For example, if you choose Monday as the first day, weekly habits will reset its progress to goal every Monday.*

    In the single progress view, the calendar also adapts to reflect your chosen start day, providing a visual representation of your habit progress within your preferred weekly framework.

    ## App Badge

    <iframe src="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Z5ghdzaL-DicVDK7FaDQgGK8zj5dBcD3/preview" width="640" height="360" />

    In this settings, you configure your day into different time blocks like Morning, Afternoon, and Evening. This is where you control the options in habit's 'Time of Day' setting as well.

    Then, in *Journal*, based on the current time, the 'Time of Day' area will switch to the corresponding time block based on the time range that you've set, and filter the habits.

    ### Editing an existing time block

    1. In *Habitify*, go to **Settings**.
    2. Under *App Behavior*, tap on '**Time of Day**'.
    3. From the list of existing time blocks, tap on the one you wish to edit.
    4. In the details of the time block, you can confiure:
       1. Icon & name: these details will appear as the icon and name of the 'Time of Day' list when it is during the time range set for the time block.
       2. Under *Schedule*, adjust the time in '**Start**' and '**End**' as the start time and end time of the time block.
       3. Under *Include*, you can tap the ➖ button before a habit to remove it from the time block. Also, hold on the ☰ next to the included habit then drag it up or down to manage the habit order.
       4. Under *Exclude*, you can tap the ➕ button before a habit to add it to the time block.
    5. Tap **the ✓ button** in the top right corner to save the changes to the edited time block.
    6. Tap **the ✓ button** in the top right corner one more time, to save all the changes you've made to *Time of Day* setting.

    ### Adding a new time block

    1. In *Habitify*, go to **Settings**.
    2. Under *App Behavior,* tap on '**Time of Day'**.
    3. Under the list of existing time blocks, tap on '**+ Add more...**'
    4. In the details of new time block, you can confiure:

    5. Tap **the ✓ button** in the top right corner to save the newly-created time block.
    6. Tap **the ✓ button** in the top right corner one more time, to save all the changes you've made to *Time of Day* setting.

    <Note>
      **Habitify always sorts the block containing 0:00 (Midnight) first.**

      * If your "Night" block runs from **23:00 to 05:00**, it bridges the gap between today and tomorrow.
      * Because it contains the start of the new day (0:00), it appears at the top of the list. This does **not** affect how your habits appear in the Journal; they will still flow naturally.
    </Note>

    <Note>
      **The 24-Hour Rule**

      Habitify does not allow "gaps" in your day. Every minute of the 24-hour clock must belong to a block.

      * **If you shorten "Morning,"** the "Afternoon" block *must* automatically expand to fill the gap.
      * **If you try to set a time range that leaves a gap** (e.g., ending Morning at 10 AM when Afternoon doesn't start until 12 PM), the app will block the change.
    </Note>

    <Note>
      To fully customize your schedule without errors, we recommend you to **create all your block first, then adjust their time ranges later.**

      Start adjusting from the beginning of your day (e.g., Morning) and work your way down. This pushes the "excess" time to the next block until your schedule is perfect.
    </Note>

    ### Removing a time block

    You can delete any time block you no longer need, including the default ones (Morning, Afternoon, Evening).

    1. In *Settings → Time of Day*, find the block you want to remove, and swipe it right.
    2. Tap '**Delete**'
    3. Tap **the ✓ button** in the top right corner to save the changes.
    4. Tap **the ✓ button** in the top right corner one more time, to save all the changes you've made to *Time of Day* setting.

    <Note>
      The app requires you to have **at least one Time of Day block** at all times. The app will prevent you from deleting the last remaining block.
    </Note>

    <Note>
      **The Time of Day's time blocks are purely for filtering and organizing your list.** This setting does not change when your habits reset for the new day. Your list the its habit's goal will always refresh at 0:00 of the new day, week, year, or month, based on the goal type.
    </Note>

    <Note>
      **Seperated from the time range of time blocks which defines your Morning or Night,** your Progress Logs and Notes will always record the real, exact date and time from your device's clock at the moment you add it. This ensures your history is a precise, factual record of when you performed an action.
    </Note>

    ## Shake to Undo

    *Shake to Undo* is a physical shortcut that allows you to instantly reverse your most recent mistakes in the app.

    ### **How it works**

    When you make an immediate mistake—like accidentally tapping the checkmark button—simply give your phone a quick shake.

    * A pop-up will appear on your screen asking if you want to "Undo" your last action.
    * Tap **Undo**, and your last check-in or log will be instantly reversed.

    **The Reverse Order of Execution:** One of the most powerful aspects of this feature is that it remembers multiple actions and undoes them one by one in the reverse order of execution. It works backward from the very last action you took.

    * For example, if you check off "Habit A" and then immediately check off "Habit B," shaking your phone the first time will only undo the "Habit B" check-in.
    * Giving your phone a second shake will then undo "Habit A".

    ### **Limitations**

    While Shake to Undo is incredibly fast, it is important to know its boundaries:

    * **It is temporary:** The "undo" state is only held temporarily.
    * **It resets:** If you close the Habitify app, navigate to a different screen, or log out of your account, the "undo" option will no longer work for those past actions.

    <Note>
      If you lose the ability to shake because you changed screens, you will simply need to manually delete the mistake from your Log History
    </Note>

    ### Enabling/Disabling

    1. Open your device's **Settings** app.
    2. Scroll down and tap on **Accessibility**.
    3. Under the *Physical and Motor* section, tap on **Touch**.
    4. Scroll down to find **Shake to Undo**.
       * **To Disable:** Tap the toggle switch so it turns gray.
       * **To Enable:** Tap the toggle switch so it turns green.

    <Note>
      Disabling this setting will turn off Shake to Undo for all apps on your phone, not just Habitify

    This should be matching however you naturally think about your week. This isn't just cosmetic: it determines when your weekly habits reset, and reshapes any week-based view in your Progress screen to align with your chosen start day.

    ## Language

    Click and select your preferred language for the app interface from the Language dropdown.

    Currently, Habitify is supported in the following languages:

    * **Primary:** English (US)
    * **Languages of European countries**: Catalan, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Portuguese), Portuguese (Brazilian), Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Ukrainian.
    * **Languages of Asian countries**: Chinese (Simplified), Hindi, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Turkish.

    ## Journal

    Give your habit journal a custom name of your own choosing, replacing the generic "Journal" label. Something personal like "Jane's Vision," a mantra, or whatever framing keeps you motivated every time you open it.

    This is purely a naming preference; it doesn't change how the Journal itself functions, just how it's labeled for you.
